Refrigerant Leak Detection

Utah refrigerant leak location

Most of us are aware that carbon monoxide poisoning can lead to death if gone unattended for a long enough time.  That being said, it is important for all home and business owners to understand carbon monoxide leaks in order to avoid dangers and risks to health for family or employees.  Carbon monoxide is a byproduct whenever fuel is burned in small engines, cars, trucks, heaters, stoves, and utilities like water heaters or furnaces.  The reason carbon monoxide is often known as the silent killer is that it is an odorless, and colorless gas.  That means that humans cannot tell they are breathing in this dangerous gas as it makes them ill and threatens their life.

As a home or business owner, you understand what goes into maintaining your home or business. We highly recommend you stay on top of your plumbing to help ensure that your pipes stay leak free. Often times leaks are not thought about until they have already begun. There are a few things that you can pay extra attention to as they are usually tale-tell signs of a water leak.

  • An increase in your water bill. It is a good idea to keep an eye on your water bill to see any spikes in charges. Especially if you are noticing signs of water leaking.
  • Water accumulating in your home or yard. We always recommend to homeowners that they do an inspection of their home at least once a month. Especially in places that are not frequently visited or looked at. Examples include in your basement, utility room and under sinks. If you notice soft spots in your lawn or water pooling in certain areas you could also be facing a leak.
  • Mold, mildew or funny smells. Often times you will have to use all of your senses in order to determine if you have a leak. If you notice foul odors this is a sign that water is rotting your walls or ceilings. Depending on the size and location of the leakage in your plumbing you can also hear it occurring. If there is a crack in the pipe you can sometimes hear the sound of running water if it is a gas leak you should be able to hear a hissing sound.
